JoJo Rings Offers CNY’s Best Personalized Gifts

JoJo Rings Offers CNY’s Best Personalized Gifts

When Jordan Dudden took a jewelry making class during her senior year at Syracuse University, she had no idea it would lead to a thriving business less than a year later.

For a class project, the Skaneateles native said she wanted to make a piece of jewelry that was meaningful to her. “I had saved keys from my grandmother’s house when she passed away, and I ended up making those into my first double and single rings,” she said.

Friends started asking Dudden where she got her rings, and eight months later, JoJo Rings are being sold in about 50 stores in 25 states. Dudden hopes to have a presence in all 50 states by the end of the year.

JoJo Rings’ core values are individuality, sustainability and social good.

Every ring is individual and different in cut, shape, size, or color. “We want people to know it’s OK to be individual, and that’s what makes you so great and so beautiful,” Dudden said.

JoJo Rings are also made from recycled materials for sustainable fashion. Keys are upcycled rather than going to waste in a landfill, Dudden said. The company purchases materials from Key for Hope, a charity in Boston that collects keys and donates money from the scrap metal to fighting hunger.

“We thought that was similar to our values, so we said ‘Hey we’ll buy from you for a little more than scrap value so you can donate to your organization, and we will too’. It comes full circle,” Dudden said.

But Key for Hope is not the only social good that JoJo Rings is doing. Every month, the company donates to a different nonprofit. This month, JoJo Rings is working with the  Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Dudden says it’s important to give back to her local community. JoJo Rings has also donated to the Food Bank of Central New York, Habitat for Humanity, and Make a Wish Central New York.

Customers also have the option to order personalized rings. “A lot of people have special connections to keys — they kind of hold a memory,” Dudden said. “People will send me a key from their first house or their first car, and its really nice to hear their stories. That’s why I started this — to make things that were important to people,” she said.
